J-1 Au Pair

Experience American culture firsthand with the J-1 Au Pair program! OnPoint guides you through every step, matching you with a caring host family for a 12–24-month cultural exchange.   

Program Overview

The J-1 Au Pair Program is a unique 12–24-month cultural exchange that allows young adults to live with an American host family while providing childcare services. It’s the perfect blend of work, study, and travel, designed to foster global understanding and personal growth.  

Eligibility

To enroll in the Au Pair Program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be 18-26 Years old
  • Previous childcare experience with non-family, verified by reference
  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Clean Police Record
  • Valid driver’s license
  • be able to pay the following fees: Membership Fee $250TT & Program Fee $850USD 

What’s Included?

  • Live-In Accommodations: Enjoy a private room and all meals provided by your host family.
  • Weekly Stipend: Earn a consistent weekly stipend for your childcare services. Estimate $200-400USD+ Weekly 
  • Educational Allowance: Receive up to $500 USD toward credits at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.
  • Cultural Immersion: Experience American holidays, traditions, and daily life as an integrated family member.
  • Travel Opportunities: Benefit from a "30-day grace period" at the end of your program to explore the United States.
  • Flight: Au Pair covers 100% of your flight. * (conditions can be updated at any time)

Participant Responsibilities

As an Au Pair, you will provide up to 45 hours of childcare per week, assisting with tasks like school drop-offs, meal prep for kids, and engaging educational activities. In return, you gain a "home away from home" and professional international experience.
